Rousing Irish Ballads

An evening of great Irish ballads, familiar choruses and songs that have been loved for generations.
Donegal singer and banjo player James Gallagher is known for his powerful melodic voice and his stirring interpretations of songs associated with some of Ireland’s finest ballad singers, including Luke Kelly and Tommy Makem. As a member of All For Me Grog – The Songs and Story of The Dubliners, James has performed for audiences across Ireland, the UK and Europe.
Now stepping into the spotlight for his first solo Irish tour, James brings together the two sides of the Irish ballad tradition: the rousing songs that fill a room with voices and the quieter, heartfelt ballads that stop an audience in its tracks.
Expect plenty of opportunities to join in with favourites such as I’ll Tell Me Ma and Molly Malone, alongside much-loved songs including Grace and Scorn Not His Simplicity. It will be a night of music, reflection and a proper old-fashioned singalong, celebrating the richness of Irish folk and ballad music.
Come along, raise your voice and enjoy an evening with one of Ireland’s rising ballad singers.
You’ll go home singing.
