SUMMARY:Fourth Wall Laois Theatre Group presents I Do Not Like Thee\, Doctor Fell
DESCRIPTION:Laois Fourth Wall Theatre Group presents Bernard Farrell’s situational comedy I Do Not Like Thee\, Doctor Fell directed by David Corri. \nA group therapy session is led by the enigmatic and manipulative Suzy (Mary Dermody).\nThe participants Joe Fell (John Kavanagh)\, Roger (Kevin Lalor-Fitzpatrick)\, Peter (Joe Murphy)\, Maureen (Alex O’Neill) and Rita (Maeve Heneghan) reveal more about themselves than they intended\, leading to hilariously awkward situations. Paddy (Michael Brennan) the Group Attendant\, provides the “normal” balance to the proceedings.\nClashing egos and misunderstandings devolve into absurd confrontations creating tension between Susy’s calm demeanour and the chaos of the group members. As Suzy applies increasing pressure\, the cracks begin to show\, and buried conflicts\, resentments\, and fears erupt.\nSet in the 1980’s\, the play is both a satire of the self-help culture and a hilarious commentary on power dynamics within supposed safe spaces. \nTickets: €12 / €10 \nBook online here

SUMMARY:Bealtaine Movie Night - The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry
DESCRIPTION:FREE EVENT – Check out the trailer here \nWe are delighted to announce that the May Film Tour\, organised by access>CINEMA and the Irish Film Institute to coincide with the Bealtaine Festival\, will again take place in 2025. This year the theme of the Bealtaine continues to be Lust for Life\, based on Iggy Pop’s iconic punk-era song celebrating life’s dreams and ambitions. \nThe May Film Tour title The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry is based on the true story of a man who leaves his seaside town in South Devon to deliver a message to an old friend. Harold Fry was never meant to be a hero. He’s an unremarkable man who has failed at all the important things: being a husband\, a father and a friend. Now\, well into his 60s\, he is content to fade quietly into the background of life. But when Harold learns his friend Queenie is dying\, he is moved to act. He leaves home\, walking to the post box to send her a letter\, until he realises a letter is not enough. \nIn that moment Harold decides to keep walking\, all the way to her hospice\, some 500 miles away in Berwick-upon-Tweed: as long as he walks\, Queenie must live. Surprising himself as much as his wife Maureen\, Harold embarks on a walk of hope\, determined to travel the length of England to save his friend. \nLed by Jim Broadbent’s moving performance\, it is an uplifting tale of self-discovery\, redemption and learning to seize the moment. Based on the bestselling book of the same name by award-winning author Rachel Joyce\, who also wrote the screenplay\, the film is directed by BAFTA winner Hettie Macdonald (Howards End\, Normal People). \nWe would like to thank GFD Communications for supporting this screening of The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry. The May Film Tour is also supported by The Arts Council of Ireland. \nDirector: Hettie Macdonald (2023)\nRuntime: 102 mins.\nGenre: Drama\nLanguage: English\nCertificate: PG

SUMMARY:March Movie Night - The Tasting
DESCRIPTION:Tickets: €5 – Available on the door \nJacques (Bernard Campan) is in his 50s and divorced. Not only is his health failing\, his wine business is on the brink of bankruptcy. He sees little joy in his future until kind\, open-hearted\, Hortense (Isabelle Carré) wanders into his shop looking for a bottle of wine. And so the scene is set for a textbook romantic comedy\, with two characters – who are complete opposites and both harbouring past heartache – who are undeniably drawn to each other. \nThis is a light\, enjoyable piece of French cinema\, featuring plenty of comic relief from a team of supporting players with a generous helping of double entendres and free-flowing wine! Based on director Ivan Calbérac’s stage play of the same name. \nDirector: Ivan Calbérac (2022)\nRuntime: 92 mins.\nGenre: Comedy\, Romance\nLanguage: French with English subtitles\nCertificate: 12

SUMMARY:Declan Nerney - Round and Round Concert Tour 2025
DESCRIPTION:With Special Guests John McNicholl and John Hogan \nDeclan was born in Drumlish\, Co Longford at a unique period of time in the music scene worldwide. A revolution in rock and pop brought us The Beatles\, Elvis and the Rolling Stones\, while here in Ireland the magnificent showband boom was about to explode. As young man Declan was heavily influenced by these greats and got the opportunity to see most of the top showbands appear in his native town of Drumlish. He would cajole his mother into seeing Joe Dolan\, Big Tom\, Philomena Begley\, The Capital Showband and many more perform when they appeared at the marquee at the end of May and early June. From his vantage point close to the stage\, he would absorb every move made by the guitarist in the bands\, watching fingers slide along the strings\, hoping that one day he might be up there performing. Declan went on to have a super career that has spanned over four decades at the top of Irish Country Music winning many accolades along the way and scoring countless hits with his catalogue of trademark songs. Join Declan and his super live band with special guests John McNicholl and John Hogan for a nostalgic night of music\, song and laughter on the 2025 Round and Round concert tour. \nBook your tickets here or phone our box office on 090 6482042.

SUMMARY:Mary Coughlan - 40th Anniversary Tour
DESCRIPTION:RESCHEDULED EVENT\n\n\nMary Coughlan is one of Ireland’s greatest ever jazz and blues artists and is often spoken about in the same breath as singers like Peggy Lee and Billie Holliday. A prolific artist by anyone’s standards\, Coughlan is celebrating 40 years in music this year with a nationwide tour and new music to be released throughout 2024 – the first of which is ‘More Like Brigid’\, an homage to the original Goddess of Imbolc herself\, Brigid of Kildare.\n\n\nMary Coughlan says of her inspiration for writing this song: “Brigid was fierce and courageous and always went against the norm. She had a monastery and it was for men and women! I have been called ‘hysterical’ and ‘hormonal’ over the years by various industry figures for being so indignant as to ask to be paid for my work\, things like that… So\, needless to say\, my homage to Brigid has given me a chance to air some of those frustrations that are so often experienced by women.”\n\n\nMary Coughlan is one of our greatest singers because over 40 years she has made the most grown-up\, uncompromising\, wholly personal yet utterly universal music on either side of the Atlantic about what goes on between men and women. It’s hard to believe that four decades have passed since Coughlan went into the studio to record her debut album\, Tired and Emotional.\n\n\nBook your tickets here or phone our box office on 090 6482042.

SUMMARY:Mary Coughlan - 40th Anniversary Tour
DESCRIPTION:Mary Coughlan is one of Ireland’s greatest ever jazz and blues artists and is often spoken about in the same breath as singers like Peggy Lee and Billie Holliday. A prolific artist by anyone’s standards\, Coughlan is celebrating 40 years in music this year with a nationwide tour and new music to be released throughout 2024 – the first of which is ‘More Like Brigid’\, an homage to the original Goddess of Imbolc herself\, Brigid of Kildare.\n\n\n\n\n\nMary Coughlan says of her inspiration for writing this song: “Brigid was fierce and courageous and always went against the norm. She had a monastery and it was for men and women! I have been called ‘hysterical’ and ‘hormonal’ over the years by various industry figures for being so indignant as to ask to be paid for my work\, things like that… So\, needless to say\, my homage to Brigid has given me a chance to air some of those frustrations that are so often experienced by women.” \n\n\n \n\n\nMary Coughlan is one of our greatest singers because over 40 years she has made the most grown-up\, uncompromising\, wholly personal yet utterly universal music on either side of the Atlantic about what goes on between men and women. It’s hard to believe that four decades have passed since Coughlan went into the studio to record her debut album\, Tired and Emotional.\n\n\nBook your tickets here
