SUMMARY:Bealtaine Movie Night - The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry
DESCRIPTION:FREE EVENT – Check out the trailer here \nWe are delighted to announce that the May Film Tour\, organised by access>CINEMA and the Irish Film Institute to coincide with the Bealtaine Festival\, will again take place in 2025. This year the theme of the Bealtaine continues to be Lust for Life\, based on Iggy Pop’s iconic punk-era song celebrating life’s dreams and ambitions. \nThe May Film Tour title The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry is based on the true story of a man who leaves his seaside town in South Devon to deliver a message to an old friend. Harold Fry was never meant to be a hero. He’s an unremarkable man who has failed at all the important things: being a husband\, a father and a friend. Now\, well into his 60s\, he is content to fade quietly into the background of life. But when Harold learns his friend Queenie is dying\, he is moved to act. He leaves home\, walking to the post box to send her a letter\, until he realises a letter is not enough. \nIn that moment Harold decides to keep walking\, all the way to her hospice\, some 500 miles away in Berwick-upon-Tweed: as long as he walks\, Queenie must live. Surprising himself as much as his wife Maureen\, Harold embarks on a walk of hope\, determined to travel the length of England to save his friend. \nLed by Jim Broadbent’s moving performance\, it is an uplifting tale of self-discovery\, redemption and learning to seize the moment. Based on the bestselling book of the same name by award-winning author Rachel Joyce\, who also wrote the screenplay\, the film is directed by BAFTA winner Hettie Macdonald (Howards End\, Normal People). \nWe would like to thank GFD Communications for supporting this screening of The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry. The May Film Tour is also supported by The Arts Council of Ireland. \nDirector: Hettie Macdonald (2023)\nRuntime: 102 mins.\nGenre: Drama\nLanguage: English\nCertificate: PG

SUMMARY:The Barking Dog Theatre Company presents Teddy’ Best Friend and Pinocchio
DESCRIPTION:The Barking Dog Theatre Company will visit us this April with two new productions for primary school children. \nThe first show\, Teddy’s Best Friend is for junior and senior infants. Eddy the Teddy has a fall out with Sammy Ragdoll. Eddy decides to go off and find a new best friend but\, of course\, no one matches up to Sammy. Sammy is missing Eddy too so by the end of the show they are best friends again. \nThe second show for first and second class is a lovely adaptation of the children’s classic Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi. Geppetto decides to make a marionette from a magic piece of wood and he calls his puppet Pinocchio. Pinocchio is a mischievous naughty puppet who is easily distracted by the fox and the cat. We follow his adventures which include him being turned into a donkey and being swallowed by a shark. \nFree Event for Primary Schools\nPhone 090 6482042 to book in your school
