SUMMARY:FOURTH WALL Laois Theatre Group present THE FIELD by John B Keane
DESCRIPTION:“We’ll give him just enough to teach him a lesson.” \nThus says Bull McCabe (Joe Murphy)\, evocative of recent horrific events in the Monaghan-Fermanagh border area\, as an outsider William Dee (John Kavanagh) attempts to establish a business by buying and concreting a field\, owned by the poor widow Maggie Butler (Geraldine Moore). Bull and his son Tadhg (Paul Kenna) believe they are entitled to the field having rented and nurtured it for five years. The villagers of Carraigthomond become complicit in events\, with the go-between Bird O’Donnell (Kevin Lalor-Fitzpatrick) and auctioneer Mick Flanagan (Eamon Delaney) acting as major conspirators\, and Bull’s relatives Dandy McCabe (Vincent Hogan) and Mrs McCabe (Catherine Scully) providing alibis. The Bishop (Colman Young) threatens cessation of Mass and refusal of the last sacraments to the parishioners over their silence. Maimie Flanagan (Jane Doheny) sympathises with the plight of Mr. Dee but won’t crack under the interrogation of Sergeant Leahy (Bernard O’Reilly) and Father Murphy (Michael Brennan). It is left to young Leah Flanagan (Snona McDonald)\, the conscience of the village\, to break silence…….But will she? \nDirected by David Corri\, stage-managed by Noel Ryan\, with a set designed and built by Keith Mason and Lar Scully and dressed by Catherine Scully\, this production will keep you in your seats. \nGet your tickets here or phone our box office on 090 6482042.

SUMMARY:Tuar Ard Film Club presents DEERSKIN
DESCRIPTION:Georges (Jean Dujardin)\, is a man who has one ambition – to possess the finest jacket in the world at the expense of all others. With the relationship with his wife in tatters\, Georges retreats to a remote town where he purchases the deerskin jacket of his dreams. Along with the stylish jacket he has just acquired\, he also gets hold of an old video camera. This ignites a new interest as he moves from couture to auteur. Aided by aspiring editor Denise (Adèle Haenel)\, he sets out to create his masterwork. However\, his ever closer relationship with his deerskin jacket starts to take him down a darker path that he continues to document on his camera and which Denise continues to sew together into a film. \nLaugh out loud funny and gloriously unexpected\, the odyssey on which Georges has embarked leaves him guilty of many things\, not least an excess of killer style… \nDirector: Quentin Dupieux (2019)\nRuntime: 77 mins.\nGenre: Comedy\, Horror\nLanguage: French with English subtitles\nCertificate: 16

SUMMARY:Tuar Ard Film Club presents NEVER GONNA SNOW AGAIN

Though his hands provide healing\, his eyes seem to penetrate their very souls\, lifting a disquiet in each of their lives. SUMMARY:Tuar Ard Film Club presents ANOTHER ROUND
DESCRIPTION:Martin (Mads Mikkelsen) and his three teacher friends all seem to have hit a middle-age rut in their lives. When one of the group tells the others about an obscure philosophy proposing that humans aren’t born with enough alcohol in their blood and so cannot reach their full potential\, the men decide to test the theory for themselves. \nAs each of the gang initially observes positive benefits from maintaining the required blood-alcohol level of 0.05%\, it is not long before they decide to push the boundaries of their experiment … \nAnother Round reunites Mikkelsen with award-winning director Thomas Vinterberg (The Hunt) in this entertaining but ultimately through-provoking drama\, which explores friendship\, masculinity and what it means to be happy. \nDirector: Thomas Vinterberg (2020)\nRuntime: 116 mins.\nGenre: Comedy\, Drama\nLanguage:  Danish with English subtitles\nCertificate: 12A
